In four minutes and not moving from one spot, Marcel Marceau conveys the seven ages of mankind, beginning with life emerging from the womb, through the cycles of life to the grave. Marceau believes "this pantomime reveals maybe the best of what mime can do in condensing time." For more on filmmaker John Barnes, visit http://www.afana.org/barnesbio.htm

Barnes of Silence
Many thanks to AFANA for this series, one of the last great series as the 16mm academic era was beginning to wind down.
Fascinating to see Marceau talking, and Barnes not (not literally, of course, but text was rouinely prolific in his work), nor bringing to bear the full arsenal of theatrics and cinematics that had always distinguished his work.
